Offering a unique perspective on popular culture, this blog analyzes pop culture trends, online trends, and the most recent trends. What is the explanation behind the latest phenomenons? More importantly, what drives modernity forward?

Trends fascinate me, especially in pop culture. The collective opinion of web users, also known as online trends, can determine somebody or something's authority and visibility on the Internet. That intrigues me. How is this consensus reached? How is anything determined as popular or not?

I am not an expert in analyzing Internet trends, and I am certainly no spokesperson for the popular culture today. This blog is written from just a humble perspective on interpreting recent trends, and their fascinating origins.

A Footnote to Recently Trendy

First of all, sorry if you were expecting a wittier or more insightful blog - I tried my best. Online trends are interesting to observe, but far more challenging to analyze. The limitations in my writing cannot compare to the limitless boundaries of the data on the Internet. Despite my shortcomings as a writer, please don't click the 'Back' button on your browser just yet! I can still offer some interesting thoughts about online trends.

The Recently Trendy blog was not meant to revolutionize the Internet any time soon. I am simply an observer of online pop culture trends, with a curious interest in learning how these trends are formed and put together. The best way to describe the Recently Trendy blog is that it contains a collection of academic essays analyzing pop culture trends, Internet trends, and other modern trends in our society. My thought process is simple: I choose a trend that appeals to me, spend quite some time researching about its origins and popularity, and then express my interpretations in a written format.

As an observer of pop culture trends, one must have an uncanny sense of humour (I call mine 'snark', which is just another way to stay that I'm sarcastic without the ballsiness or the biting edge). After all, the celebrity world is pretty ridiculous. In my writing, I try to inject some on-the-cheek humour alongside the serious analysis. These Internet trends can be quite dry sometimes, so I wanted to include a lighthearted approach. It took me a while to find the right tone for these pop culture trends analysis, but I am finally happy with the creative direction of this blog.
